these birds. They also eat a variety of sprouts, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables, commercial pellets, as well as the same nutritional foods humans eat. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as peas, carrots, tomatoes, apples, and bananas are always a welcome food supplement for your bird. Items to avoid: avocado, grapefruit, green beans, all forms of cabbage, lemons, plums, raw and green potatoes, rhubarb, and dried fruits that have been treated with sulphur dioxide. Also provide gravel with oyster shell in it in a separate dish, and a cuttle bone. |

Cage Requirements
Be sure to provide a cage with plenty of room for your bird(s) to test their wings. A cage that is approximately 24"x24"x20" (16 inches long, by 18 inches deep, and 20 inches high) is the minimum size recommended for two or three birds. A swing is also a good idea, 2-3 softwood perches of varying sizes and shapes are a definite necessity.
