Indian Ringneck

Description
The distinguishing mark of these birds is the black ring-like collar around the neck of the sexually mature male. There are a large variety of colors available, the most common coloration being green, with yellow closer to the body, and a bit of blue on the back of the head.
length: 13-16 inches depending on species.
weight: about 5 oz.
lifespan: 25 – 30 years on average.

Diet
Always provide your bird with fresh water daily. Vitamin fortified pellets or seed labeled for cockatiels is the recommended staple for these birds. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as peas, carrots, tomatoes, apples, and bananas are also a welcome food supplement for your parakeet. Pasta, rice, and beans are also good sources for protein and carbohydrates. Also include a cuttlebone, a beak block, and gravel with oyster shell to provide the proper trace elements and minerals. Items to avoid: avocado, grapefruit, green beans, all forms of cabbage, lemons, plums, raw and green potatoes, rhubarb, and dried fruits that have been treated with sulphur dioxide.

 

Cage Requirements
