Description
From the original, wild green color, parakeets have now been bred to consist of over 100 different color forms, from blue and green to solid white and nearly everything in between.

Diet
Always provide your parakeet with fresh water daily. Vitamin fortified pellets or seed labeled for parakeets is the recommended staple for these birds. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as peas, carrots, tomatoes, apples, and bananas are also a welcome food supplement for your parakeet. Also include a cuttlebone, a beak block, and gravel with oyster shell to provide the proper trace elements and minerals. Items to avoid: avocado, grapefruit, green beans, all forms of cabbage, lemons, plums, raw and green potatoes, rhubarb, and dried fruits that have been treated with sulphur dioxide.

 

Cage Requirements
